To correctly execute Personal Taxprep, you must have the following:
Processor
Pentium IV or better (Dual Core processor is recommended)
Operating systems
- Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP3
- Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit versions (except for Starter Edition)
- Windows 7, 32-bit and 64-bit versions, (except for Starter Edition)**
- Windows Server 2000 SP4, Windows Server 2003 SP2 32-bit and 64-bit versions (including R2), Windows 2008 Server 32-bit and 64 bit versions
- Terminal Server (Server 2003 or 2008) and Citrix (MetaFrame 4.5 Advanced version)
Notes:

Microsoft® will end technical support and updates for Windows 2000 Server operating system in 2010. Consequently,
Personal Taxprep will discontinue support of this version of Windows as of Personal Taxprep version 1.0 – 2010.

Network File Systems
RAM Minimum
1 G of RAM (2 G or higher is recommended)
Note: RAM requirements are highly dependent on the operating system used. Please refer to the documentation
provided with your operating system for minimum and recommended RAM requirements.
Hard drive disk space
The installation requires 225 MB of free disk space on the drive where Windows is installed (by default this drive is C:\)
in order to copy temporary files, plus 290 MB of free disk space on the drive where the application will be installed.
Monitor
SVGA 800x600 monitor (1024x768 recommended), 65,000 colors
Note: A double monitor or a widescreen monitor is recommended to integrate CCH Scan to Taxprep.
Printer
Laser printer with a minimum of 4 MB of memory (16 MB recommended) or inkjet printer
CD/DVD drive
A CD or DVD drive is required to install the software. (The CD or DVD drive is not required if the program is either installed
or run from another computer or network server or downloaded from the Taxprep Web site).
Adobe Reader™
Version 9.0
Adobe Acrobat Standard/Professional©
Version 7.0, 8.0 or 9.0
Internet Connection
To access Internet, Internet Explorer 5.5, 6, 7 or 8.0 with 128-bit security encryption is required to transmit returns via Internet.
As well, an Internet connection is required to:
- use various electronic services available with Personal Taxprep
- register the Personal Taxprep product
- register returns (lite version only)
- access Professional Centre Updates
