Create a Customized Label Template
You can create your own label template to customize the information appearing on the labels and to apply any specific formatting.
Working with a label template is very similar to working with a letter template - both are created with the Letter Editor tool. Refer to the help topics found in the Working with the Letter Editor section for detailed information about the relevant tasks.
The general steps to create a label template can be described as follows:
- In the Letters and Labels view, add a template.
- Click Open
button
to display the label template in the Letter Editor.
- Use the Letter Editor to customize and test the template.
- Save the template, then link it to the Labels - Preview & print form (Jump Code: LPP).

- Each type of address usually appears in its own conditional block.
- The block’s starting condition usually comes from the Labels - Worksheet (Jump Code: LABELS): the condition is linked to the check box which activates each type of address.
- In a label template, a page break tells the program to go to the next label (or type of address).
- Make sure to use a font that fits in the label’s limited space. Note that the margins defined using the Page Setup option of the Letter Editor are not applicable to labels.
- If you want to print several copies of the same label, you can copy the conditional block into the clipboard and paste it repeatedly into the template.
