About the Advanced Network Version

The following features are available in the Advanced Network version of Personal Taxprep:

• Automatic installation of a complete copy of Personal Taxprep on authorized clients' workstations with the Client Push installation method.
• Use of the Advanced Network version from a computer that is not connected to the server.
• Control of the printing, transmission and export functionalities as well as the defined rights when using Personal Taxprep from a computer that is not connected to the Taxprep server.

Authorizations concerning a complete installation on clients' workstations of a copy of Personal Taxprep and using the program without being connected to the Taxprep server are granted separately in order to offer to administrators more flexibility concerning work organization in the firm.

Thus, if an administrator only wants to reduce traffic on the Taxprep server, he or she can authorize some user groups to install a complete copy of Personal Taxprep on their workstations and not allow them to log in to an off-line mode. If the administrator wants to allow preparation of returns from a remote location for certain user groups, the complete installation of a copy of Personal Taxprep on laptops of those users and logging on to an off-line mode must be allowed.

Managing rights granted for on-line and off-line uses

The Advanced Network version allows you to define the rights granted when a user group works in on-line mode (On-line profile) and in off-line mode (Off-line profile). As a result, user groups can be allowed to transmit returns when working on-line and denied transmission when working off-line.

To easily define the rights granted to these two profiles, some functionalities allow you to copy the rights defined in the profiles of a user group to a new user group or to copy profile rights to another profile.

Updating

Any changes made to the options, settings, rights and policies are applied as soon as a user logs on to an on-line mode. Users automatically receive the Personal Taxprep update as soon as they connect to the Taxprep server, they can choose to install it immediately or at a later time. Where a user chooses not to install it right away, he or she will not be able to log in to an on-line mode.

Multiple environments and on-line or off-line work sessions

Environments created by a user during an on-line work session are not available when he or she opens a off-line work session (and vice versa), because these environments are not saved in the same location.
